About this role

ABOUT THE ROLE Under the direction of the Early Childhood Wellness Program Manager, this role serves as a subject matter expert for infants and toddlers with delays and disorders in social-emotional, cognitive, and atypical development, including autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities. The Senior Therapist provides clinical assessment, intervention, and therapeutic services for families of children from birth to age three. This position also involves coaching Service Coordinators, providing case management, and ensuring services align with Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist Service Coordinators in problem-solving through coaching, mentoring, and resource provision. - Support a positive team environment and respond to staff requests for technical assistance regarding regulatory requirements and the Pyramid Model Framework. - Ensure a racial equity lens is utilized during all early intervention services. - Serve as the Early Head Start and Part B program liaison. - Review and assess early intervention case record documentation for compliance with Local, State, and Federal regulations. - Serve as clinical supervisor for practicum and intern students, and train new employees. - Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP). - Support transition planning for children exiting the PIE Program. - Serve as an early intervention subject matter expert and consultant to the community, providing training and guidance. - Provide supportive developmental services utilizing parent education, counseling, and coaching. - Provide independent, individualized developmental and special education services and therapy for children ages 0-3. - Conduct community outreach and awareness activities, including playgroups, in-services, trainings, and parent support groups. - Prepare professional-level reports for families, physicians, and other service providers. - Maintain client clinical and administrative records. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field. - At least two years of post-graduate work experience providing direct clinical services to consumers with substance abuse, psychiatric, or emotional disorders. - Licensure or license eligibility as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP), or Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia at the time of appointment. If license eligible, must obtain Virginia licensure within one year of appointment. - Valid driver's license issued by the state of residence. - Preferred: At least one year of experience providing intervention to infants 0-3, Infant Mental Health Specialist or Mentor endorsement, training in adult learning principles, bilingual abilities, one year of Part C early intervention experience in Virginia, state certification as an Early Intervention Professional and Case Manager, and three or more years of clinical job experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Successful completion of pre-employment background checks, including Criminal Records Check, VA State Child Abuse/Neglect Registry, Medicare/Medicaid Fraud Database, education/certifications, and driver's license check. - Must obtain Virginia licensure within one year if hired as license-eligible.
