About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE The Assistant City Attorney I provides professional legal services under the direction of the City Attorney or Deputy City Attorney for the City of Rochester. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Prosecuting criminal offenses within the City of Rochester - Conducting legal research - Preparing and maintaining criminal files - Providing legal advice and opinions to City officials and appropriate parties - Assisting with select civil projects or defined civil topics MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree - Licensed, or immediately eligible for licensure, to practice law in Minnesota SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Individuals who recently took the July 2026 bar exam are encouraged to apply - Proof of a passing bar exam score is required by October 5, 2026, and/or before an offer is extended SELECTION PROCESS - Evaluation of submitted applications and qualifications by the hiring department, including mandatory verification of bar exam passage prior to extending an employment offer HOW TO APPLY - Submit your application online at: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/rochester/jobs/5433651/assistant-city-attorney-i-limited-term EMPLOYMENT DETAILS - Job Type: Full-time (FT) - Location: Rochester, Minnesota - Opening Date: 09/02/2026 - Closing Date: 10/07/2026 at 11:59 PM Central - Employer: Minnesota City Jobs
