Zoning Enforcement Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE Loudoun County Government's Department of Planning and Zoning is seeking a Zoning Enforcement Manager to lead the Zoning Enforcement division. This team ensures properties within the county conform to Zoning Ordinances and specific Board-adopted chapters of the Virginia Maintenance Code. As part of the Department leadership team, you will collaborate on organizational development, budget, and recruitment while supporting interdepartmental initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who prioritizes problem-solving, diplomacy, and collaboration in a fast-paced, result-oriented environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Oversee and manage all aspects of Zoning Enforcement programs and duties. - Respond to constituent complaints and resolve issues related to alleged zoning violations, Virginia Maintenance Code violations, and county ordinances. - Conduct residential and commercial occupancy inspections for new construction. - Work closely with the Office of the County Attorney to seek legal advice and prepare cases for court action. - Maintain daily contact with the Board of Supervisors and their staff regarding the resolution of constituent issues. - Motivate, mentor, and support professional staff to find solutions to complex zoning enforcement questions. - Think strategically about operational and programmatic issues within the division. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in Planning, Public Administration, or a related field. - Six (6) years of related work experience in planning and/or zoning. - Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Preferred Qualifications: - Certified Zoning Administrator (CZA) certification is strongly preferred.
