About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE This is an unclassified, full-time position in the Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Department. The purpose of this role is to perform operational duties related to training, instructing, and providing support to developmentally disabled clients. This includes assisting skills trainers, preparing lesson plans, and maintaining reports. It is distinguished from a Behavioral Health Assistant by its primary focus on preparing curriculums and conducting classroom instruction. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Plans and prepares training curriculums and conducts classroom instruction for behavioral health clients in basic living and social skills. - Assists skills trainers in the proper techniques of caring for and instructing behavioral health clients. - Establishes objectives for individuals and groups of clients. - Prepares lesson plans and materials for classroom use. - Assists assigned staff in developing new programs for clients. - Explains objectives and guidelines of the assigned training center to the community. - Performs various administrative duties as required. - Maintains and prepares various reports and records. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - High School Diploma or GED required. - One year of experience in training, teaching, or working with developmentally disabled clients. - Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - No specific license or certification is required. - Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the performance of essential functions and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively. SELECTION PROCESS - The examination consists of an evaluation of education and experience through analysis of the submitted application. - The application must clearly document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education, and experience to be rated as qualified. - If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required at the time of employment for all degrees or coursework used to qualify for the position.
