About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
This full-time position oversees multiple public infrastructure and facility projects from planning through design, construction, and closeout within an established program framework. The role involves coordinating with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and the public to ensure successful project delivery. Work focuses on the responsible delivery of projects demanding strong technical judgment, critical thinking, disciplined project management, and effective collaboration to reflect community priorities and long-term public value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages assigned projects, overseeing scope, schedule, resource selection, risk assessment, budget, and fees
- Facilitates public engagement and coordinates technical input from stakeholders
- Reviews contract documents and ensures compliance with project contract terms and ACCGov standards
- Manages resource allocation and monitors costs of internal and external resources throughout the project life cycle
- Reviews, verifies, and certifies monthly engineering and contractor payment requests
- Represents ACCGov in negotiations and communications with designers, contractors, agencies, and stakeholders
- Directs and reports project progress and performance to the Capital Projects Director
- Ensures quality processes are planned and implemented in accordance with program and contract requirements
- Proactively manages changes in project scope and develops contingency plans for project success
- Oversees administration of project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and contract records
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or other applied technical disciplines related to the built environment
- 5 years of progressive project management experience, including demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects and administer design and construction contracts in an owner-side, consulting, or public-sector environment
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Preferred: Professional Engineer, EIT, or CCM certification
- Preferred: Experience in the Southeast US construction industry
- Preferred: Experience in client service, stakeholder management, and managing consultants or contractors in an owner-side or oversight role
- Physical ability to perform light work, including exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or 10 pounds frequently
- Ability to walk over uneven ground, climb embankments, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift as required
