About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE Under the general supervision of the Police Chief, this temporary position assures that civilian paramedic services are provided to the Town of Greenburgh and its incorporated villages. The incumbent assists in the coordination and implementation of procedures for emergency medical care, supervises and assigns civilian paramedics, participates in providing treatment, and evaluates the quality and quantity of aid required in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist in the coordination and implementation of emergency medical care provision in the Town and its incorporated villages. - Supervise civilian paramedics and participate in responding to emergency medical requests, making diagnoses, and providing treatment per State of New York, Westchester County Medical Advisory Committee, and town protocols. - Conduct quality assurance reviews and programs to comply with regulations and standards. - Recruit and recommend the hiring of civilian paramedics and participate in defining and interpreting standards of practice. - Assure paramedics and police officers receive appropriate training and certification in pre-hospital emergency medical care, providing training and recertification as needed. - Perform administrative tasks, including maintaining inventory control records, ordering supplies and equipment, and preparing reports for the proposed unit budget. - Ensure medical equipment and vehicles are clean, decontaminated, and maintain an adequate inventory of supplies. - Exercise supervisory responsibilities over Emergency Medical Technicians employed by the town, as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Must have 12 months of continuous permanent competitive class status as a Paramedic in the Town of Greenburgh immediately preceding the time of examination. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Maintain current level of NYS AEMT4 Certification. - Maintain Westchester Regional MAC Certification. - Maintain a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. - Provide a concrete and specific summary of training and experience with the application.
