About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE King County's Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is seeking a Housing Repair Project Manager to provide technical assistance to low-income homeowners and special needs renters seeking funding for home rehabilitation. This role involves extensive in-person consultations, property inspections, and proactive problem-solving to ensure safe, decent, and livable home environments across King County. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Inspect dwellings for housing quality standards, code violations, and eligible repairs under the Housing Repair Program. - Provide technical assistance and planning expertise for project scopes of work and research applicable building codes. - Build client credit packages documenting income, assets, and liabilities for program qualification. - Prepare written bids and proposals, develop construction specifications, administer contracts, and resolve disputes. - Conduct project site inspections, authorize interim and final disbursements, and monitor budget expenditures. - Conduct outreach to stakeholders and provide technical assistance to streamline the application process. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Experience managing construction projects, including monitoring compliance, budgets, and timelines. - Two years of current construction-related experience in housing rehabilitation, general construction, residential real estate, mortgage banking, or financial services. - Demonstrated recent experience with construction costs and labor requirements. - General understanding and ability to interpret current building codes, mechanical HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and land use requirements. - Intermediate proficiency using Office Productivity Software. - Demonstrated experience building trusted relationships with diverse and vulnerable communities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout King County. - Ability to successfully pass a background investigation. - Physical ability to conduct in-person home inspections, including climbing ladders, navigating uneven surfaces, and crawling under homes. - Designated as Mission Critical; expected to report to work during emergencies or inclement weather. - Must reside in Washington state within a reasonable distance to the King County worksite.
