About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
Join the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to help grow the skills and confidence of the nursing staff at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. This role involves shaping training that strengthens care, supports professional development, influences daily practice, and improves the learning experience for employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and deliver training for new nursing employees and document their progress.
- Create lesson plans and present training programs that meet regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of educational activities and staff participation.
- Share information on available training programs and demonstrate new procedures.
- Work with supervisors to identify educational needs and schedule staff for required training.
- Conduct audits of staff performance and observe work practices across all shifts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Three years of professional nursing experience and a bachelor's degree in nursing, nursing education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
2. One year of professional nursing experience and a master's degree in nursing, nursing education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Employees with an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within one year.
- Pennsylvania residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Conditional offer of employment requires a medical examination.
- Position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act, requiring satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.

- Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch. Flex-schedule based on facility needs.
