About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
This position provides direct customer service and fulfills Motor Vehicle Title and Registration transactions according to Colorado Revised Statutes. Responsibilities include accurately recording and preserving permanent public documents, issuing marriage licenses, and assisting with election services. The role is highly complex and requires a minimum of one year of hands-on and back-office training to become fully competent.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine and verify valid forms of Secure and Verifiable Identification and residency requirements.
- Verify documentation for motor vehicle transactions, including titles, tax receipts, and bills of sale.
- Process various title transactions such as duplicate, salvage, rebuilt, and abandoned vehicles.
- Assist customers in acquiring titles when original titles are not available through bonding procedures.
- Help customers transfer vehicle ownership after a death using legal documents.
- Perform vehicle inspections for VIN verification and issue homemade trailer ID numbers.
- Issue temporary vehicle registration permits, standard license plates, and specialty plates.
- Provide professional responses to complex customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
- Execute proper opening, closing, cash handling, and deposit procedures.
- Complete daily back-office work, including online and mail transactions.
- Assist with voter services during election periods.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Specialist I: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business or paralegal certificate preferred.
- Specialist I: 2 to 4 years of proven success in interpreting complex rules, data entry, financial management, and customer service.
- Specialist I: Ability to type 45 words per minute.
- Specialist I: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
- Specialist II: Minimum 1.5 years of proven success as a Vehicle Titling & Licensing Specialist I.
- Specialist II: Maintains enthusiasm for mentoring and supporting Specialist I teammates.
- Specialist II: Proven ability to handle customer dissatisfaction and combative situations tactfully.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are desirable.
- Ability to stoop, stand, or sit for extended periods and handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must demonstrate exceptional reliability, punctuality, and commitment.
