About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE The Registrar of Voters is seeking positive, enthusiastic, and flexible individuals to work in a fast-paced, volume-driven environment for the upcoming November 3, 2026, Gubernatorial General Election. This recruitment is open continuously and may close at any time once the business needs of the department have been met. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Signature Checking: Navigate voter database, compare affidavit signatures with return envelope signatures, apply challenge codes, list challenges, and print signature checking reports. - Extraction: Count and confirm envelopes, remove ballots using an OPEX Model 72 device, maintain voter anonymity, screen ballots for damage or light markings, prepare ballot cards for tabulation, draft receipts, restock supplies, and file empty envelopes sequentially. - Equipment Room: Assist with pre- and post-election setup, setup signage and drive-thru dropboxes, perform routine mail pickups, assist with driving and loading box trucks or cargo vans, haul election materials, scan and image mail ballot returns, operate a drill press on undeliverable mail, sort undeliverable ballots, and swap out full dropboxes. - Remakes: Work in teams to duplicate damaged ballots using a ballot marking device, log daily statistics, perform quality control checks, and file processed ballots by sequence and serial number. - General: Maintain a clean and organized office, keep workstations tidy, and help maintain office security by locking doors and limiting access. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Reliability and dependability. - Ability to perform repetitious tasks and provide accurate hand counts. - Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written procedures. - Ability to cross-train on multiple processes as needed. - Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends. - Ability to maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, external agencies, and the public. - Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and punctuality. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Must wear an employee badge and access card at all times. - Must follow all health and safety protocols. - Must represent the Registrar of Voters in a professional and non-partisan manner. - Essential physical requirements include: continuous upward and downward neck flexion, ability to sit or stand for long periods, moving between workstations, repetitive use of hands, frequent bending and twisting of the waist, simple grasping and reaching above and below shoulder level, and lifting and carrying objects up to 40 lbs.
