Police Commander

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a highly responsible law enforcement management position serving as the commander of a major division within the Police Department. Working under the direction of the Bureau Captain, the Police Commander manages the daily activities of the division, directing and overseeing both sworn law enforcement officers and civilian technical and clerical staff. The role requires strong leadership to develop and implement department goals, manage complex criminal investigations, handle personnel issues, and ensure the delivery of quality customer service to the public and City departments. The Commander may also act as the Chief of Police in their absence and represents management in collective bargaining negotiations.
