ABOUT THE ROLE Full-time, Regular position with the City of Antioch Police Department (Job Number: 27500-26-7). The role involves protecting persons and property, providing law enforcement, maintaining order, controlling traffic, preventing crime, conducting investigations, and handling jail and desk duties. Location: 300 L Street, Antioch, CA Opening Date: 06/25/2026 Closing Date: Continuous KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Patrol assigned areas by car, motorcycle, or foot to observe, investigate, and report suspicious or hazardous conditions - Apprehend and arrest law violators - Respond to routine and emergency calls for protection of persons and property and enforcement of laws - Investigate crimes, accidents, deaths, and disturbances; gather evidence; interview suspects and witnesses; complete case reports - Handle missing persons cases and work with community organizations on delinquency control programs - Direct traffic, regulate vehicle flow, and issue citations to violators - Appear in court to present evidence and testimony - Search, guard, transport, and assist in the booking and custodial care of prisoners - Serve writs, warrants, subpoenas, and other legal documents - Provide information to the public and assist in developing community crime prevention programs - Speak before business, school, civic, and social groups - May be assigned to evidence, training, investigations, or administrative duties MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Graduation from high school or equivalent - Age: 21 years at time of appointment - Citizenship: U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien eligible for and applied for citizenship at least one year prior to application - Academy Graduate: Must possess a Certificate of Completion from a POST Academy within the last three years - Academy Attendee: Must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a POST Academy in the State of California - Must be currently employed as a Full-Time Police Officer or Deputy Sheriff in the State of California continuously for at least one year SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License with a satisfactory driving record (absent of misdemeanor or multiple infraction convictions) - No felony convictions; misdemeanor convictions may result in disqualification - Must attach California POST Certificates, Academy Certificate of Completions, or a letter from the POST Certified Academy indicating good standing and date of graduation to the application - Must complete POST medical screening (including stress EKG), POST psychological evaluation, and polygraph background investigation - Must meet physical demands: normal hearing, proportional weight to height, sound physical, mental, and emotional health, normal color vision, visual acuity not less than 20/40 uncorrected and 20/20 corrected, and no history of psychosis or psychoneurosis SELECTION PROCESS 1.
