About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE The Ohio Air National Guard, 180th Fighter Wing, is seeking a Medical Administrative Officer to serve as the Senior Medical Officer for the installation, including tenant units and Geographically Separated Units (GSUs). This role involves directing and managing all medical administrative functions, ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD), National Guard Bureau (NGB), and other federal regulations. The officer will provide medical management and advisory services to senior leadership, oversee Individual Medical Readiness (IMR), and ensure the medical readiness of personnel for worldwide deployment and state missions. This is an excepted service position requiring membership in the Ohio Air National Guard. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Direct overall management of medical support for the installation, tenant units, and GSUs. - Implement courses of action regarding DoD, NGB, CDC, OSHA, FDA, EPA, and other regulatory impacts on Air National Guard plans and missions. - Ensure medical capabilities support federal expeditionary medical operations and state homeland security missions. - Provide medical management and advisory services to senior management, formulating and interpreting medical policy. - Direct Information Management activities within the Medical Group and ensure compliance with medical aspects of worldwide deployability. - Represent the Medical Group at nationwide meetings, conferences, and workshops. - Direct base medical and bioenvironmental programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. - Oversee Occupational Health programs, including Hearing Conservation, Immunization, Fetal Protection, Respiratory Protection, and Hazard Communication. - Analyze, evaluate, monitor, and report Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) for all personnel. - Collaborate with the Wing Commander on short-term and long-term strategic planning. - Ensure compliance and preparation for readiness inspections (ORI, HSI, UCI, ESOHCAMP). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11), including: - Program or managerial experience directly related to the position or comparable functions. - Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs; evaluating and recommending changes in operations. - Supervisory, staff, or technical work involving study, analysis, or evaluation leading to improved managerial/administrative policies. - Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations. - Experience managing work functions, including leading, directing, and assigning work to personnel. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Membership: Ohio Air National Guard membership is required. Applicants not currently members must be eligible for immediate membership. - Military Grade: O5 Promotable through O6. - Compatible Military Assignment: 041A3. - Security Clearance: Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret clearance within one year of appointment. - Driver’s License: Valid state driver’s license required. - Selective Service: Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered. - Background Investigation: Federal employment suitability determination required. - Incentive Contracts: Termination of incentive contracts occurs effective one day prior to start date for AGR/Permanent Military Technician roles.
