ABOUT THE ROLE This position at the Iowa Veterans Home involves functioning as an independent dispensing pharmacist across all required pharmacy areas. The role includes providing medication information, leading and training pharmacy technicians, performing medication regimen reviews, and participating in facility committees and on-call rotations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Function independently as a dispensing pharmacist in areas including computer input, filling and checking orders, compounding, IV preparation, and answering telephones. - Provide medication information to appropriate disciplines. - Assist in leading technicians, answer procedural or medication-related questions, and perform necessary training for technicians. - Participate as a pharmacy member representative on various committees as needed. - Perform Medication Regimen Reviews, ensuring assigned resident profiles are reviewed every 30 to 31 days with appropriate recommendations and documentation in the Medical Record System. - Complete quarterly unit inspections. - Participate in the Pharmacist On-Call rotation.
