About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Assistant Nursing Director assists the Director of Nursing in providing support that meets the requirements of the Licensing Board of Nursing. This role acts as the agent for the Director of Nursing in their absence and works closely with Human Resources and Labor Relations to address employee matters. The position involves reviewing incident reports, collaborating with union representatives, and participating in negotiations as needed to ensure high-quality nursing care and operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
- Develops, implements, and reviews nursing care plans.
- Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups, and nursing home facilities.
- Maintains effective working relationships with other members of the treatment team.
- Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations, and forms.
- Participates in and makes recommendations regarding quality assurance activities.
- Acts as the agent for the Director of Nursing in their absence.
- Reviews incident reports in a timely manner and alerts the Director of Nursing of any arising issues.
- Works closely with union representatives and participates in negotiations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license or a multi-state compact license.
- At least three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Long Term Care Nursing.
- OR a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Long Term Care Nursing.
- OR a Master's degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in Long Term Care Nursing.
- Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through coursework, academic training, employer-provided training, or performing as a lead worker.
- Knowledge of developing policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of budget development, including analyzing financial data and making long and short-range plans and projections.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must attend an in-person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on the first day of employment in Kent or New Castle County.
- Must pass a satisfactory criminal background check, which costs an estimated $85.00 and must be covered by the applicant.
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
- Must complete a 2-Step TB/PPD test administered on the first day at the facility.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the State of Delaware participates in E-Verify.
- The Department of Health and Social Services does not provide employment-based sponsorship.
