About This Position

About the Role - Works in the City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services Adult Mobile Crisis Response Program. - Provides rapid response, assessment, and early intervention for behavioral health crises in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and the Eastern Shore. - Assists individuals experiencing crises that impact their ability to function in family, living, community, school, or work environments. - Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Key Responsibilities 1. Responds to calls through the Region Crisis Hub System providing Mobile Crisis Intervention and Stabilization services to avert hospitalization. 2. Mobilizes community resources and natural support systems for ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation. 3. Completes clinical documentation, filing, and billing submission accurately and within required timeframes. 4. Completes complex assessments, treatment planning, crisis planning, clinical intervention, consultation, and transition planning. 5. Aids in community education and works to increase referral sources as needed. 6. Works evenings and holidays to meet operational needs. Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree in a human services field and five years of experience as a clinician, counselor, therapist, social worker, psychologist, or psychiatric nurse. - Equivalency: Any combination of education above the high school level and/or experience equivalent to nine years in the aforementioned roles. Special Requirements - Must be registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Licensed LPC, LCSW, LCP, LPC Resident in Counseling, or Supervisee in Social Work. - Must be available to work evenings and holidays and may work excess hours for department needs or emergencies. - A DMV transcript and a Child Protective Services check are required. - Preferred experience includes working with adults in crisis, mental health and substance use disorders, conducting complex assessments, and community-based work.
