About this role

ABOUT THE ROLE The Crew Leader provides supervision to a group of Laborers and/or Equipment Operators engaged in general maintenance and repair work. This role is within the Department of Public Works, which serves as a community partner in shaping a livable, green, and prospering City of Falls Church by planning, building, operating, and maintaining transportation systems and infrastructure. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations - Supervise daily operation of sewer maintenance crews and sewer cleaning equipment - Review sewer system maps and make corrections as necessary - Inspect various jobs in progress and make recommendations for changes in practices - Investigate and respond to citizen complaints - Prepare bills of materials, estimates, and other written reports - Verify contractor invoices and reports - Promote on-the-job safety and training for employees - Write daily and weekly work reports - Apply knowledge in CCTV operations - Perform related work as required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - High School Diploma or GED - Three years of experience as a Supervisor or Equipment Operator, or an equivalent combination of experience and training - Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the state of residence SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Emergency Designation: Required to perform crucial duties in emergency situations (e.g., snow removal, debris removal, transportation, shelter operation, food distribution, communications), even when the government is closed. - Must be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. - Subject to 24-hour a day call-in and must provide a reachable telephone number to the employing agency. - Must submit a copy of a driving record obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles with the application.
