ABOUT THE ROLE
The Quality Assurance Director leads and directs all quality assurance and improvement activities for the Alexandria Community Services Board (ACSB). Serving as an advisor to the department, this role focuses on quality assurance standards, risk mitigation, and compliance. The ideal candidate possesses comprehensive knowledge of QA/QI principles, data analysis, and community and human services delivery systems. This position requires strong clinical leadership, the ability to manage multiple projects, and proficiency in fostering relationships with city officials, employees, and accrediting bodies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide expert clinical guidance on quality assurance and documentation standards across behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and substance use services.
- Act as the primary Corporate Compliance Officer and Human Rights Advocate, conducting audits to meet state and federal mandates.
- Administer internal quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with statutory, professional, licensing, and funding requirements.
- Manage and maintain critical incident data for reporting, quality assurance, and improvement purposes.
- Formulate and implement organizational changes by researching best practices and revising department policies.
- Direct the activities of the Quality Assurance, Health Information, and HIPAA Privacy Officer.
- Serve as Chair or Co-Chair for key committees, including Quality Assurance, Safety, Corporate Compliance, Policy and Procedure, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Serve as Risk Manager for the CSB, overseeing risk management activities and maintaining the Risk Management Plan.
- Ensure agency-wide HIPAA compliance and coordinate electronic health record updates with IT.
- Coordinate the CSB accreditation and re-accreditation processes and maintain state licenses.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years of program management experience in a community mental health or similar setting.
- Three years of experience providing mental health and/or substance abuse services, including diagnostic evaluations, crisis intervention, and case management.
- Possession of an M.S.W., M.A., M.S.N., or Ph.D. degree from an accredited school.
- Virginia Licensure or immediate eligibility for Virginia licensure at the time of appointment as a LCSW, LPC, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Clinical Psychologist (or an equivalent combination of experience and training).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and basic knowledge of data analysis tools, survey software, and SharePoint.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment background checks, including FBI/Federal Records Check, VA State Child Abuse/Neglect Registry, Medicare/Medicaid Fraud Database, education/certifications verification, and driver's license check.
- Work schedule is Monday through Friday (specific hours to be determined).
