About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services is seeking an Assistant Nursing Director to assist the Director of Nursing in providing support that meets the requirements of the Licensing Board of Nursing. This role acts as the agent for the Director of Nursing in their absence and works closely with Human Resources, labor relations, and union representatives to address employee matters, review incident reports, and participate in negotiations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide or evaluate direct nursing care.
- Develop, implement, and review nursing care plans.
- Provide health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups, and nursing home facilities.
- Maintain effective working relationships with other members of the treatment team.
- Prepare and submit records, reports, evaluations, and forms.
- Participate in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities.
- Review incident reports in a timely manner and alert the Director of Nursing of any arising issues.
- Work closely with union representatives and participate in negotiations as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
- At least three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Long Term Care Nursing; OR a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years of experience in Long Term Care Nursing; OR a Master's degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year of experience in Long Term Care Nursing.
- Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through coursework, training, or performing as a lead worker or supervisor.
- Knowledge of developing policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of budget development, including analyzing financial data and making long and short-range plans.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must provide three professional references, with at least one at the supervisory level.
- Must attend an in-person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on the first day of employment in Kent or New Castle County.
- Must pass a criminal background check, with an estimated cost of $85.00 covered by the applicant.
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
- Must complete a 2-Step TB/PPD test administered on the first day at the facility.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and pass E-Verify.
- Must follow federal conflict-of-interest requirements for Older Americans Act Title III programs and complete a Conflict-of-Interest Form.
