Police Officer Part-Time (Continuous) (Grade 14/15)

ABOUT THE ROLE The City of Huntsville Police Department is seeking retired APOSTC Certified Law Enforcement Officers who are ready to re-enter the workforce. This part-time position focuses on protecting life and property, enforcing laws, and assisting citizens. The Huntsville Police Department is an internationally accredited agency with approximately 500 sworn officers patrolling around 220 square miles across three precincts. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Protect life and property through the investigation of specialized matters and assistance to citizens. - Prevent crime, enforce laws, regulations, and ordinances, and apprehend criminals. - Conduct internal investigations and perform special assignments designated by the Chief of Police. - Perform security work to safeguard employees and public property. - Execute arrest and detention procedures as required. - Perform front desk duty to assist the public and manage department inquiries. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - High school diploma from a regionally accredited school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, or a GED certificate. - Must be an APOSTC certified law enforcement officer who honorably retired in good standing with no pending disciplinary action. - Possession of a valid Driver's License. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Must meet specific requirements stipulated by the Alabama Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) Administrative Code and other legal criteria. - Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application. - Must successfully complete a pre-employment polygraph examination.
